Recycled Paper

This is paper that contains fibre from waste paper. Recycled paper will include varying proportions of post consumer waste (PCW) fibre. Post consumer waste is paper that has already been used for its final and intended purpose. The use of this type of fibre is most likely to reduce waste paper going to landfill or incineration.

It may not directly save trees, but it uses fibre more efficiently. Trees are planted as a crop for other purposes as well as papermaking. However, recycling does make the best use of the yield of the tree by extending the life span of its fibres. The main benefit of using recycled paper is to reduce the amount of paper going to rubbish tips (landfill sites). For more information please read our paper information brochure here.

Recycled Printing Papers framework

The DfT (Department for Transport) has issued a framework agreement to meet central government’s mandate on the use of recycled paper under the ‘Buy Sustainable-Quick Wins’ initiative.

This framework means for public sector bodies that procurement of recycled content paper can be a genuine ‘Quick Win’ and is an obvious and easy starting point for most organisations to make a cost saving and embed as part of their own Corporate Social Responsibilty (CSR) policy.

Organisations who sign up to the framework can benefit from extremely competitive rates. It is estimated customers can save approximately 18%.
